Maine-based indie rock band Tancred – which consists of Now, Now’s Jess Abbott along with Kevin Medina and Terrence Vitali – released their third full-length LP, Out of the Garden, earlier this year via indie powerhouse Polyvinyl Recording Co. The album contains a myriad of contagious power pop songs of a similar vein to groups such as Speedy Ortiz and labelmates PWR BTTM.

The openly queer Jess Abbott takes the spotlight in the video for album highlight “Pens,” as she finds herself being literally seduced by evil, personified by a hooded Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz.

Tancred, originally a solo project, sound even stronger in a full band setting on Out of the Garden as Abbott’s refreshing lyrical perspective and sweet vocals break through the fuzzed out guitars in one of the best albums of 2016.
